Resale
Rights
If you want to sell a product, but are
struggling to come up with products you can sell, then there
are some products that you can buy and subsequently sell on to
other people. These products have what's commonly referred to
as resale rights and allow you to set your own price, within
reason, and sell them on to anyone, any way you like.
The major advantage is you get to keep all
the revenue generated from any sales you make. You also do
not have the added expense of buying and/or stocking your
own products, because as most of these products are in the form
of information products or ebooks, they can be easily
downloaded from a page on your site or the link can be emailed
directly to the customer. Therefore there are no delivery costs
that are associated with delivering physical products. Also,
you don't necessarily need your own website as you could sell
them on Ebay or other auction sites (if the license terms
allows it).
There's no shortage of places where you can
pick up resale rights products that you can sell on to end
users. You only have to go to Ebay to find thousands of ebooks
that come with resell rights, and there's also numerous
websites offering resale rights products or monthly memberships
where you receive new products every month.
For maximum profits, you find to find either
new products that have just hit the market, or ones that are of
good quality, but have not yet been heavily promoted, so
saturation point has not yet been reached.
Most resale rights products come with their
own sales and download/thankyou pages, so it's very easy to get
started. In these instances you just have to change the payment
link to your own, upload the files to your web server, and
start driving traffic to this site. However, for greater
success you should distinguish yourself from other resellers by
making your offer stand out, such as creating an improved sales
page, and offering additional bonuses to the basic product.
This will give you an edge over your competitors and help
you outsell them.
Another way to profit from resale rights
products is by creating your own product and selling
the resale rights to the product to other resellers. If
you limit the number of resale rights licenses available,
you can charge a high premium for these rights and generate
significant profits in a relatively short space of time.
Whatever you decide to do with resell rights
products, it's important that you familiarise yourself with the
various rights terms that come with resale rights products, and
abide by the license agreement. If in doubt you should always
contact the original author of the product. Here's a guide to
the various different types of resale rights that come with
products:
Basic Resale Rights - You
are allowed to resell the product yourself, but the people who
buy from you do not have the rights to sell it on
themselves.
Master Resale Rights - You
are allowed to resell the product, and you can also sell the
basic resale rights to your buyers, so that they can resell the
product themselves.
Giveaway Rights - As the
name suggests, you are allowed to give the product away for
free.
Private Label Rights - I
discuss this in the 'Private Label Rights' section. You are
allowed to change the content in any way you like and even put
your name to it as the author in some cases, although every
license agreement is different.
Rebranding Rights - Similar
to private label rights in that you are allowed to rebrand some
of the content, often some of the affiliate links contained
within the product.
Royalty Rights - You can
resell the product yourself, but you have to pay the original
author a specified percentage or commission per sale. Often
applies more to physical products than digital products.
Source Code Rights - These
are generally applicable only to software, and allow you
to alter the source code that comes with the product.
